Prerequisites

For those who do not already have an Associate Degree in ECE, the following prerequisite courses are required and can count as elective credits toward the B.A.S. degree. At least 3 of these courses, whichever you choose, must be completed prior to beginning the program. The remaining 3 can be completed after you have started in the program.  Admitted students also have the option to take a waiver exam for the remaining three courses.

    • EDUC&115 – Child Development

    • ECED&107 – Health, Safety and Nutrition 

      *Will be offered Summer Quarter 2017 on Wednesday nights, 6:00-9:30 PM
    • EDUC&130 – Guiding Behavior

    • ECED&170 – Environments

    • EDUC&150 – Child, Family, Community

    • ECED&160 – Curriculum Development

      *Will be offered Summer Quarter 2017 on Tuesday nights, 6:00-9:30 PM
    • ENGL&101 – English Composition I

*Summer registration at the Seattle Colleges begins on May 15 for returning students and May 22 for new students. Space is limited so we encourage you to register as early as possible

Important Information about Prerequisites

  • Equivalent courses from other colleges may be substituted for any/all of these prerequisites.

  • Candidates with equivalent prior learning from employment and professional development experience may inquire about testing out of these courses.

  • These courses may be taken at any college. Most are offered at Washington state community and technical colleges.

  • If you have not taken these courses but wish to apply, please contact our program manager to discuss these alternatives.

  • You may apply to the degree program before you have completed the prerequisites, but will need to have a minimum number complete before the fall quarter begins.
